Having epilepsy can be difficult, you sometimes feel like everything is that bit harder to accomplish and your memory just doesn't allow you to move forward. Well it's at times like that when you need to realize just how much you can achieve. There are many famous epileptics who have faced the world though many artists still fear the stigma attached to it, history shows that the illness once dubbed the ' sacred disease ' hasn't stopped the talent of many people. So below are just a view to consider.

Danny Glover (1946 - present)

Danny Glover is a well known and respected actor who helps with epilepsy organisations to raise awareness. He suffered with epilepsy between the ages of 15 and 35, it has been said that he willed himself to get better using forms of self hypnosis.

Prince (1958 - present)

Prince is another well known artist, he suffered from epilepsy as a child and felt that to make up for this he should be that little bit noisier and get noticed. He has wowed people consistently with his musical talent.

Neil Young (1945 - present)

Another musical legend, Neil Young had epilepsy in his younger years along with many other illnesses which he faced and fought through.

Elton John (1947 - present)

Another musical genius, although his story is different to some he had epilepsy that is believed to have started due to the regular drug abuse of his past. He has not denied the reasons for his epilepsy and has warned others of the dangers.

Theodore Roosevelt (1858 - 1919)

The youngest American president, a man well known and admired in many countries. Roosevelt suffered with asthma and poor eyesight along with his seizures and yet this did not affect his courage or intelligence.

Ian Curtis (1956 - 1980)

Curtis' battles with epilepsy have been well documented, he fought hard to continue his musical aspirations before eventually losing that fight. Known for his work with the popular band Joy Division.

Prince John (1905 - 1919)

Son of King George V (UK) had epilepsy from the age of four. The royal family of the time found great shame in this at a time when the stigma was still very strong, as such he was kept from public view as much as possible. But this shows that even royalty are effected by epilepsy.

Some other well known epileptics ( though there is debate on many of these due to evidence collected over the years being doubted ) include Agatha Christie, Hercules, Aristotle, Julius Ceaser, Isaac Newton, Beethoven and many more.
